Christian Rap Band…The Nineteen Nineties saw the continuing development of funky rap artists combining faith and hiphop, like D.O.C. (Disciples of Christ) who cropped up out of Oklahoma as well as the Gospel Gangstaz from Compton and South Central Los Angeles, California. In 1991, JC Crew emerged launching the careers of Maximillian (West Coast beat box champ) and T-Bone. Other rap artist made a great effect on the Christian rap scene. Such rap artist that contributed were Dynamic Twins, Freedom of Soul, IDOL King, End of the world & both 12th Tribe and Holy Alliance who were produced by Scott Blackwell of MYX Records. S.F.C.’s (Sup, QP, DJ Dove) 1992 album Phase III was DJed and produced by DJ Dove, whose credits also include the Gang Affiliated, Gospel Gangstas’ 1993 introduction CD. About the very same moment in time as Phase III, Dynamic Twins (Robbie and Noel) came out with their 1993 LP No Room To Breathe. Christian Rap Band…The 116 Clique (pronounced one-one-six click) is a Hip Hop & Religious Rap rap group from Dallas, Texas signed to Reach Record label. It consists largely of Reach Records’ solo artists & some who are signed to other labels. The 116 Clique is named after the Bible verse Romans 1:16. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it’s the power of God almighty unto salvation to each one that believes; to the Jew first, & in addition to the Gentile.” For them it means acknowledging the power of the Gospel as well as to profess it in each area of their existence. “We may lay our life down to serve & venerate God in everything we do.” Christian Rap Band
